Earlier this year, Cobalt Digital was one of several companies to receive an Emmy Award for its collaborative work on ARQ, the underlying technology powering RIST (Reliable Internet Stream Transport).
Now at IBC, Cobalt is debuting support for the RIST Main Profile, which adds features such as encryption (DTLS or PSK), tunnelling, NAT traversal, point-to-multipoint distribution, low bit rate optimisation, and reliable ST-2110 transport.
Also being demonstrated on the stand is the 9971 Series of multiviewers, which adds dual outputs and user controls. Delivering monitoring of asynchronous 4K and HD signals, all three models accommodate a variety of signals and applications. All also include HDMI outputs for economical viewing on consumer-grade 4K monitors. One-button template presets simplify setup, but users can also create and save customised layouts. Up to five 9971s can be installed in one 2 RU openGear frame – and multiple cards in a cascaded chain can provide multiviewer layouts with up to 64 sources.
Christopher J Shaw, EVP for sales & marketing, Cobalt Digital, told the IBC Daily that the company is this year focusing on HEVC, while also showcasing its card-based 4K and HDR workflow solutions for openGear frames, a colour corrector panel, and new multiviewers and distribution amplifiers.
“We are also working with Technicolor to develop an SDR to HDR conversion software, using Intelligent Tone Management (ITM) technology to darken bright whites and bring out detail from shadow,” said Shaw. “This is very useful in sporting environments, where the camera moves from sunshine to shadow.”
Cobalt Digital is exhibiting at IBC2019 on Stand 10.B44.
