Simon Fell

Chairman, Digital TV Group (DTG)

Simon is the independent Chair of the Digital TV Group (DTG), on the Board of Piksel Inc and was formerly the Director of Technology & Innovation for the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) from 2013 to 2018. Simon joined the board of the DTG in April 2019 his career across IT, online and broadcast media, telecoms and airport technology spans five decades.

Simon has also chaired numerous international working groups and standards bodies and represented broadcasters in their negotiations with the EU on spectrum. Before joining the EBU he was CTO at Heathrow Airport and worked with Freeview, on the launch of Freeview HD. He spent many years at ITV leaving as Director of Future Technologies. He also helped establish Carlton Television where he held several executive positions and helped launch digital broadcasting in the UK. Previously he was with the Virgin Group, Channel Four Television and Yorkshire Television.

Simon is a Fellow of both the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) and the Royal Television Society.
